School work
So I promised I’d post some more schoolwork, here ya go:
Photography Class
Today for photography we were shown a few old photos from famous photographers (black and white). With those inspirations in mind we were send out into the city to shoot interesting compositions and sights. Here are my results not edited or manipulated except grayscaling them:
(it says ‘Day and...

Free Lensing
It sounds like an extreme sport or some sort of freelancing but it’s what I’ve been talking about for the last two posts (not counting the concert journal);
Photos taken with the lens detached from the camera but held in place and moved around to focus. This also lets extra light in sometimes causing light leaks and giving a vintage look and feel. Also: * Gives extra bokeh by...
Them Crooked Vultures
If you follow me on twitter you probably already saw me bragging all day yesterday. But for you that don’t follow me or for you that had no idea what the fuck I was talking about:
Maybe you’ve heard of them or maybe you haven’t but Them Crooked Vultures is a new band. The lineup consists of Dave Grohl on drums (leadsinger of the Foo Fighters and drummer of Nirvana), John Paul...
Tilted planes
Yesterday I posted about tilt photography and a fake one I tried to create since I don’t own a tilt shift lens (since those costs $1000+).
Today I started working on a second fake tilt and I am a hundred times more pleased with the end result of this one. There is a shallower depth of field so the effect comes across better, plus I also played around with the color tones which also...
Tilt photography
End result (click for high res)
Besides the cliched “miniature effect” you get bombarded with when you look up tilt shift photography, there are a lot of other cool effects you can get with a tilt shift lense.
One of my favorites is just simply tilting the focus plane. You have to imagine that normally the plane of focus is parralel to the image sensor in the camera, so you could...
Me and my first tattoo
Remember this post from a while ago? Well my plans have come to fruition, and here is the result:
It was a very special experience getting inked. The artist told me there would be pain-killing natural chemicals released in my body that my body will make as a reaction to the pain. I didn’t really notice it, wasn’t feeling high or something. BUT, the time I was lying on my back,...

Nikon D60
I got a new camera, my first SLR camera. It’s a Nikon D60 with a AF-S DX Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR lens. You can find the first few (succesfull) shots I took over here. Expect lots more in the next few days!

NY09: Day 1
Hello everybody,
So yesterday was my first real day in NYC.
Jeremy and I first went to Museum of Moving Image. Boo. Do not go there, it’s fun I guess, for 20 mins but definitely not worth the money, it’s just a bunch of movie props and old merchandice.
After that we went to Time Square, walked around a bit in that area, went to the Apple Store on 5th avenue and headed over to...
NY Blog #1
Hey everybody,
here’s a quick blog from me, I’m at the applestore at 5th avenue atm for some internet fix.
My trip over to here went fine. Had an hour delay at philadelphia but what ever, the plane that took me from philly to ny was crazy small, like maybe 20 seats, at most.
As soon as I arrived in NY Jeremy was there to pick me up and bring me over Keith and Chemda’s place...

Hiatus
Just got back from an intake at the Willem de Kooning art academy in Rotterdam. I got two assignments that I needed to do for that intake, which is the reason why I haven’t been posting any thoughts lately.
Now that the intake is over I’ll start posting again but don’t count on a daily thought since the final exams will start next week and I’ll be very busy studying as...
